19 Apr N.J. Association of Women Business Owners to host Business and Procurement Expo in Edison
Edison, NJ – If you are in business or thinking of starting your own venture, you should book a seat at the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO’s) 14th Annual Business and Procurement Expo. The April 19th forum, to be held at the Pines Manor in Edison NJ from 8 am – 2:30 pm, covers a wide range of startup and growth-track advice and resources from a variety of experts. Of special interest: you’ll have an opportunity to get more information about certification requirements for women- and minority-owned companies.
The Expo – consisting of starter and advanced workshops and panels, networking opportunities, various business support services vendors, an invigorating & informative keynote, and representatives from corporations, government agencies and sponsoring organizations – delivers ample business advancement options.

This year the keynote speaker is Joe Connolly, a seasoned business reporter on WCBS Newsradio 880’s Wall Street Journal Report. Connolly’s talk, titled “Finding Opportunity,” will share informative stats, observations, and specific business-advancement insight gleaned from his expert coverage of small business doings locally, regionally and nationally. The topic is particularly relevant given NJAWBO’s Procurement 2012 Expo theme, Change Brings Opportunity: Will You Be Ready?
Educational programs include: a WOW Panel Workshop, moderated by Caren Franzini, CEO of the NJ EDA with input from big pharmacy, education, utility, transportation, and construction representatives with tips on how you can participate in their growth; Advanced Social Media: How to Leverage the Top New Media Spaces, presented by Pattie Simone, Journalist, Entrepreneur, and Profit Alchemist, will cover best practices, case studies and tips for businesses with established new media marketing budgets; beginner and advanced Social Media “Shooters” – Mini training sessions about Facebook with La Shonda Tyree, Founder and President, Silk City Design, and Twitter, given by Jackie Berman, President, Pearls of Wisdom Media, LLC.
Vendors will showcase their wares and services from 10:00 am to noon and from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. At a sit-down lunch, attendees will have an opportunity to chat with various representatives from corporations, government agencies, and sponsors.
The event, which also includes a light breakfast, typically draws hundreds of business owners, in addition to over 20 corporations, government agencies, and sponsors from all over New Jersey and the surrounding states.
